Slaughterhouse aims for the silence of the cows

Prather Ranch Meat in California is pioneering new ways to kill cows more humanely, with a small on-site slaughterhouse intended to keep animals so happy and relaxed that they don't even moo in distress as they await their end. "Humane slaughter at the level strenuously striven for at Prather ultimately doesn't reflect what's important to cows. It turns a mirror on the people who consume them," notes Mac McClelland.
