Common core helps Calif. schools, colleges define "college readiness"

Public schools and universities in California increasingly are working together to align expectations for college readiness. Both have begun using the Common Core State Standards as a universal model for aligning those expectations. "It's kind of putting the seal of approval that these courses are what's going to prepare kids," Val Hogwood, director of curriculum and instruction for one district, said.
