More hotels are sharing real estate with other hotels, a boon to brands that want to expand in urban areas with high property costs, such as the Aloft-Hyatt-Marriott triplex in Chicago. One tension the trend creates: Maintaining separate brand identities and sorting through which guests can use which of the property's amenities, such as a pool or free breakfast.
