Mexico may tap shale reserves in Eagle Ford formation

Mexico has yet to benefit from the shale natural gas reserves in its own piece of the Eagle Ford Shale formation, which extends to Monterrey and down to the Gulf Coast, writes Thomas Tunstall, an expert on oil and natural gas issues for the University of Texas at San Antonio. However, Mexico may push for shale development in the area as its government pursues a constitutional amendment to revamp the energy industry and make the country's oil and gas reserves more accessible to private firms, Tunstall states.
