Nokia holds onto Here, a potential rival to Google Maps

When Nokia unloads its cellphone-making business to Microsoft today, it will retain a valuable digital-mapping division that may represent the most imposing rival to Google Maps on mobile devices. Nokia's Here, which already has an edge in the in-car navigation market over Google, has 100 million users and is the default mapping application on Windows Phones. Nokia claims it makes an average of 2.7 million upgrades a day to its maps.
