Washington University lab aims at real-world biotech solutions

Washington University in St. Louis Mo., is home to IDEA Labs, a bioengineering design and entrepreneurship incubator set up by students and faculty that is already churning out possible solutions to real-world challenges. The objective is to bring together doctors who reveal what they need on one side and students and faculty on the other to provide the engineering. "You want to be useful in the world. It's nice to be able to be useful even as students and to apply the learning we're getting," said Avik Som, IDEA Labs president and founder.
