California farmers consider oil crops

Some California farmers may begin planting crops such as canola, which can be processed into biodiesel, on currently unproductive land. They are watching a University of California project involving small plots of canola planted throughout the state to determine where the plants do best. Economics remain a question for the farmers who currently produce some of the nation's most valuable vegetables.
