Sanofi finds contaminant in heparin batches in Europe

Sanofi-Aventis on Thursday announced that it has found small amounts of impurity in some lots of Lovenox, its blood-thinning heparin injection, and that British and Swedish regulators have been notified about the contamination. The Swedish Medical Products Agency has recalled four batches of the drug as a precautionary measure. The U.K.'s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency said it found no proof of any risks to people using the product.
