Senate to consider bill banning Medicaid cost-shift rules

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., on Thursday invoked a procedure to advance consideration of a bill that would bar a proposal to cut the Medicaid budget and shift billions of dollars in costs to states. A spokesman for Reid said the senator and Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., "are still discussing how to proceed" with the measure, which is expected to be discussed in the Senate next week.
