Metabolic syndrome raises death risk for HCV patients

Hepatitis C patients have a higher risk of death if they also have one or more components of metabolic syndrome, according to data from the third National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Being overweight or having high blood pressure raised the risk of liver-related death among HCV patients, and Type 2 diabetes also increased the overall risk of death.
