DOT: U.S. airlines transported 54.3M scheduled passengers in January

U.S. airlines carried 1.1% more passengers in January on a year-over-year basis, according to the Department of Transportation. The airlines carried 54.3 million scheduled passengers in January, compared with 53.7 million in January 2011.
