Gen. Odierno: Reserves play crucial role in Army's transition period

The U.S. Army is in a period of transformation and strategic growth during which it hopes to achieve more flexibility, writes Army Chief of Staff Gen. Raymond Odierno. The Army now "has an unprecedented level of integration between its active and its reserve components. The Army National Guard and the Army Reserve have stood shoulder to shoulder with active-duty troops around the globe, and the level of trust, respect, and mutual understanding between them is unparalleled in the army's history," he writes.
