Halliburton objects to BP's proposed Gulf-spill settlement

BP's proposed $7.8 billion settlement with the individuals and businesses affected by the Gulf of Mexico oil spill is being opposed by Halliburton. The company "objects to the limited amount of time available to analyze the settlement agreements," said Donald Godwin, a lawyer representing Halliburton. The settlement also seeks to make Halliburton "liable in part for settlement payments" and limits its ability to settle claims, the company added.
