Lobbyists push Senate for LGBT inclusion in immigration bill

The Human Rights Campaign, Immigration Equality and Log Cabin Republicans are among the groups urging the U.S. Senate to amend an immigration bill to make sure LGBT Americans can sponsor their foreign same-sex partners for residency in the U.S. Senators, including several Democrats, say the fragile nature of the compromise bill makes amending it politically tricky. "Any amendment which might sink the immigration bill, I would worry about," said Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich.
