Study: Culture influences children's desire for sugary foods

A recent study of children aged 6 to 9 from Spain, Germany, Hungary, Estonia, Cyprus, Belgium and Sweden revealed that children of different cultures have very different preferences for the amount of sugar and fat in their foods. "There is a tendency to undertake uniform dietary prevention programs across European countries," says lead author of the study, Anne Lanfer. "However, flavor preferences vary from one country to another and the same program will not be equally effective in all countries."
