U.K. economy grows 0.3% in 1st quarter, skirting recession

Growth of 0.3% in the first quarter allowed the U.K. economy to scrape by without entering an unprecedented triple-dip recession. The result reverses a 0.3% contraction in the fourth quarter and is expected to provide some political breathing room for the government as it pursues further austerity.
