WHO focuses on eradicating yaws using syphilis test

Yaws, a skin and bone disease, could be eradicated using the same blood test for syphilis. Medical workers can use the Dual Path Platform syphilis test in places where the disease is found such as Indonesia. "In combination with the newly available oral azithromycin treatment, yaws control at the primary health care level will be greatly strengthened," said World Health Organization medical officer Jacob Kool.
