Giving your customers some degree of choice can be a powerful tactic as you seek to engage with them, according to Paul Greenberg. Companies must develop the tools for effective engagement, but ultimately they must let customers decide how to interact with them, he says. For that reason, he defines customer engagement as "the ongoing interactions between company and customer, offered by the company, chosen by the customer."
