The Department of Agriculture is unnecessarily hindering one meatpacker's attempt to better protect its customers from BSE, the author says. Creekstone Farms last month filed a lawsuit requesting the right to test 100% of its cattle for BSE, but the USDA maintains that to let the company do so would undermine the world's confidence in U.S. beef and existing regulations.
