Standards for EHR meaningful use might align with HIMSS Stage 4

The standards that will be established by the federal government on the meaningful use of electronic health records in hospitals might run parallel to the HIMSS Analytics' Stage 4 rating for adopting EHRs, said Jerri Hiniker, program manager at Stratis Health, a quality-improvement organization. Stage 4 in the EHR adoption model endorses clinical decision support and computerized physician order entry in ensuring quality care in hospitals.
