Virginia gubernatorial candidates outline education priorities

The three Democrats competing to replace Virginia Gov. Timothy Kaine all echoed Kaine's campaign pledge to expand free preschool to all the state's children. At a debate sponsored by Virginia's teachers union, they also concurred on improving teacher salaries and shrinking class sizes; the Republican nominee said he favored charter schools and merit-based teacher pay.
