Calif. agency completes outline of draft rules for chemicals

California's Department of Toxic Substances Control has completed a draft outline of rules to prioritize chemicals and products of concern. The move is a bid to keep the chemical industry from using substances linked to health risks. State officials also hope to develop a database that would enable consumers to learn a product's chemical ingredients and carbon footprint.
