FTC probe examines whether oil companies conspire to set low wages

About a dozen oil companies, including Exxon Mobil, are being investigated by the Federal Trade Commission over accusations of antitrust violations involving interfering with the labor market to hold down costs. The probe results from a 1997 employee lawsuit alleging the companies shared information about management, professional and technical salaries to keep them at low levels.
