People with unhealthy habits age quicker, study finds

The combined effects of excessive drinking, smoking, poor diet and leading a sedentary lifestyle increase the risk of death and appear to cut longevity by 12 years, according to a 20-year study involving almost 5,000 British adults. The most common causes of death seen in the study were heart disease and cancer.
