Two containment systems for offshore oil spills have helped restart offshore drilling following the federal government's post-spill moratorium. Helix Well Containment Group developed a system for averaged-sized Gulf wells, while the Marine Well Containment Co.'s design is focused on larger wells. "Long term, you need both," said Owen Kratz, CEO of Helix Energy Solutions Group, parent company of the Helix consortium.
