Guidelines for educators on school website filtering

Karen Cator, the Education Department director of education technology, offered in a recent interview her insight into school website filtering rules. For starters, Cator clarified that accessing YouTube videos is not a banned practice, but it should be done with caution to avoid accessing inappropriate content. Cator also noted that sites blocked for students may be unblocked for educators to access appropriate content, and doing so would not jeopardize a school's E-rate funding.
