New U.K. board will include farmers in animal-health plans

A new Animal Health and Welfare Board in England will encourage input from livestock farmers, veterinarians and animal welfare workers as well as government officials as it works to draft policy recommendations on the health and welfare of kept animals. "It replaces the old ways, where the people most affected by decisions were kept at arm's length from policymaking on those subjects," said farm minister Jim Paice.
