Business leaders defend school breakfast program in NYC

Bill Shore, founder and CEO of Share Our Strength, and David Kirchhoff, president and CEO of Weight Watchers International, have come to the defense of the school breakfast program in New York, which recently was criticized. They write in this opinion article about the importance of school breakfasts -- and school meals in general -- to curb student hunger. In a recent Share Our Strength survey, about two-thirds of teachers polled said some students regularly come to class hungry and rely heavily on school to get their meals.
