Chemical industry raises concerns about NTP guidelines

Guidelines in the National Toxicology Program's Report on Carcinogens lack transparency and consistency because of old methodologies and the absence of substantial peer review, according to chemical industry officials. "The NTP is globally recognized as an 'authoritative body,' and chemical classifications in the RoC carry significant consequences for businesses large and small. ... It is essential that RoC classifications represent the highest-quality scientific classifications," said James Bus, a research director at Dow Chemical.
