Experts: Keeping cloud data secure is knowing what needs protecting

Security remains a leading concern for enterprises shifting to third-party hosting services such as cloud computing, but getting it right means having mechanisms in place for determining what data is sensitive and making sure it doesn't make it onto public storage servers, experts say. According to Vic Mankotia of CA Technologies, advanced data classification and risk-based authentication tools are a good place to start. Others, such as Blue Coat Systems' Jon Andresen, recommend using Web gateway services, which scan all files going to and coming from the public cloud.
