Novozymes joins investors in Danish biorefinery plan

Novozymes is investing in a $354 million cellulosic ethanol and biogas plant that a consortium is planning to develop in Denmark by 2016, said Poul Ruben Andersen, the company's vice president for bioenergy. The Maabjerg Energy Concept project is expected to use straw to produce about 19.3 million gallons of ethanol, 3.3 billion cubic feet of biogas, heating for 20,000 homes and electricity for several thousand homes, Novozymes said.
