Think in a different language to make better decisions

People make better, more rational decisions when they think through a problem in a language other than their native tongue, according to research. French works well, as do Japanese and Spanish; for non-native speakers, English is also beneficial. Researchers believe the process works by allowing people to step back and gain a new perspective on the problems they're facing.
