CMS has updated its frequently asked questions about EHR meaningful use to include two new questions and their answers, addressing issues related to the effect of budget sequestration on Medicare and Medicaid EHR incentives and the attestation of eligible providers in case they decide to change their EHR vendors during the program year. According to the agency, sequestration will reduce Medicare EHR incentives to qualified providers by 2% for a reporting period ending on or after April 1 of this year, although Medicaid incentives will remain the same. For the second question, CMS says the information gathered from both vendors can be integrated for an eligible provider to attest to meaningful use.
