Employer attitudes hinder hiring of people with disabilities

Unemployment has increased among individuals with disabilities and government survey data show that people believe their disability is a barrier to getting hired. Stanley Holbrook of the Three Rivers Center for Independent Living in Wilkinsburg, Pa., said employer attitudes are a big problem and that companies often do not know they can make reasonable and inexpensive accommodations to allow workers with disabilities to achieve at a high level.
