Washington, D.C. chefs open super-sized restaurants

Gargantuan restaurants with upwards of 500 seats are popping up throughout Washington, D.C., catering to large parties brought in by conferences, political gatherings and tourism, but also capturing intimate parties of just four or six. "I wasn’t looking for a 14,000-square-foot restaurant; it came looking for me," said Bryan Voltaggio, owner of Range, which takes up half a floor at the Chevy Chase Pavilion Mall. "I missed that experience of an a la carte-style dining, but I wanted to do it in a new way."
