Are UMPCs ready for primetime?

Ultra-mobile PCs will need to be more than a hybrid version of a PDA and notebook PC if they are to succeed in the marketplace, according to Dadi Perlmutter, senior vice president and general manager of Intel's Mobility Group. Smaller, lighter versions with extended battery life and WiMAX capabilities will be more attractive, Perlmutter said.
