Scientific teams identify seven more genes tied to Type 2 diabetes

Scientists on Thursday reported finding seven additional genes connected with Type 2 diabetes, bringing to 10 the number of genes identified. The new genes include at least three that appear to increase the risk for the disease. The findings were presented in three reports by university scientists and one by a private company.
