Will more bacteria help instead of hurt?

Some scientists and researchers are suggesting that humans' obsession with killing germs and bacteria is contributing to a rise in allergies and inflammatory conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome. They say probiotics could help restore the natural bacterial balance in the body. However, some also say that probiotics purchased over-the-counter can be inconsistent in quality.
