Commentary: Century Plaza hotel should be preserved, not demolished

Michael Rosenfeld and D.E. Shaw Group, the owners of the Century Plaza in Los Angeles, have submitted plans to level the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza hotel to make way for two mixed-use buildings, one with a 240-room hotel to be designed by the firm founded by famed architect I.M. Pei. But what makes international cities great is the preservation of their cultural achievements, and efforts should be made to preserve the architecturally significant Century Plaza, according to this commentary.
