German chancellor warns over hostile views on biotech crops

Political debate about the risks of biotech crops should be open and should not immediately lead to objections, said German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Merkel's statement comes in the wake of Agriculture Minister Ilse Aigner's decision to ban the planting and sale of Monsanto's biotech maize MON 810 in the country.
