New cement composite would allow infrastructure to repair itself

Researchers at the University of Michigan have developed a bendable cement composite that they believe will reduce maintenance requirements for infrastructure. The engineered-cement composite bends but does not break, allowing cracks to heal as long as the concrete is moistened periodically. The scientists say that buildings, bridges and roads can be made of the composite.
