Some franchisors are arranging financing or offering discounts to help franchisees get started during the credit crunch. "When the economy is down, you always have an increase in people showing interest in starting their own businesses, and we usually see an increase in franchise applications," said FastSigns' director of franchise development Brian Wieters. IFA spokeswoman Alisa Harrison agrees, adding any slowdown in development is because of the credit market.
