WHO raises global alert level as swine flu spreads

The World Health Organization raised the global alert level for swine flu to Phase 4, indicating that the virus is becoming more adept at spreading among humans. The virus has spread to at least four more countries, and containment is no longer an option, a WHO official said. "We are proceeding as if we are preparatory to a full pandemic," Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said.
