Senate panel will question Goldman Sachs executives

Senators are poised to question Goldman Sachs Chairman and CEO Lloyd Blankfein today in a pivotal congressional hearing that could affect the proposed overhaul of financial regulation. Blankfein is expected to dispute a claim from Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., that Goldman "put its own interest and profit ahead of the interests of its clients." Senate investigators said Goldman developed a series of complex deals, rather than one, to profit from the mortgage-market meltdown.
