How to use a "core carrier +1" strategy

One way to develop a truckload strategy is a "core carrier +1" approach, which involves asset providers and one third-party logistics provider, writes Bob Biesterfeld of C.H. Robinson Worldwide. When it comes to asset providers, you should try "to identify enough providers to cover lanes, but not so many that your internal team becomes overwhelmed trying to work with them," he writes. Consider factors such as financial health when choosing a 3PL, he recommends.
