Do the math: Value stocks outperform growth stocks

A comparison of U.S. large-cap, mid-cap and small-cap equity indexes from 1990 to 2012 shows that value-oriented stocks outperformed growth-oriented stocks during that period. The performance advantage held even with a shorter time horizon of five years, the author says, concluding that the findings justify overweighting value stocks in client portfolios using U.S. equity funds.
