Smartphones outsold feature phones in Q1, IDC says

For the first time, the number of smartphones shipped worldwide accounted for a majority of the total cellphone market, according to research firm IDC's first-quarter figures, with total shipments at 418.6 million units, a 4% gain from a year ago. The smartphone market soared by 41.6%, and Samsung Electronics extended its lead over Apple from 5.8 percentage points to 15.4 points.
