Review questions ultrasound for pediatric fatty liver assessment

Experts who reviewed nine studies do not recommend ultrasound for identifying fatty liver in children. The authors said MRI might be a better tool, but findings were inconsistent and more data are needed. The results showed inconsistencies between ultrasound steatosis score and actual hepatic steatosis.
