Connecticut lawmakers pass strongest school-nutrition bill in U.S.

Connecticut Gov. M. Jodi Rell says she'll sign a new bill that bans the sale of all sodas and sports drinks in public schools. Only healthy beverages, such as water, milk and 100% fruit juices, will be allowed. To the dismay of some, the legislation does not automatically ban vending machine sales of candy and other junk foods.
