L.A. interpreters help immigrant parents

Terms like "spaghetti straps" and "overachievers" sometimes stymie the 19 full-time members of Los Angeles Unified School District's Translations Unit, which interprets school jargon for immigrant parents. The group had to deny more than a third of the translation and interpretation requests it received last school year due to a lack of resources.
